YORKSHIRE WIN PRIZES AT NATIONAL LIVE & CARCASE

Not only were Yorkshire Members taking part in the usual Countryside Live Competitions (see under comps) but several members had qualified for the National Live and Carcase Finals held over three days. A massive congratulations to Anna Stockil from Winksley cum Grantley who was placed 1st in the Intermediate Live and Carcase Lamb section. Anna who is only 13 was competing against members upto 21 years of age. Anna was also placed first in the lamb team event along with Ann-Marie Brown from Nidderdale. Ann-Marie & Anna were then placed third overall along with Richard Priestley, Aire Valley and Ryan Atkinson, Winksley/Grantley who were the Beef half of the team. Sarah Leach, Worth Valley, (Senior Lambs), Rachael Moore, Worth Valley, Hannah Brown, Winksley/Grantley (Lamb Team) were also awarded third places.

SUCCESS AT DAIRY EVENT
Well done to all those who took part in the National Dairy Event Finals at Stoneleigh. Congratulations to Frances Griffiths, Cawthorne who won the junior section, Jennie Booth, Lothersdale who was third in the Intermediate section and Sandra Butterfield, Burton in Lonsdale who was second in the Senior section. Well done to the Yorkshire C team who were second overall. (Frances Griffiths, Kathryn Alderson, Catterick and Peter Gratton, Nidderdale). Congruatluations to Jonathan Raw who was placed third in the Senior Stockman of the Year. See full results under Competitions.
TWO YEARS IN A ROW AT STOCKMAN
Twenty four members travelled to Lancashire to compete in the Stockman of the Year. Everyone did extremely well with the three Yorkshire teams taking the top three positions for the second year in a row. Helen Herd was also truimphant in the Senior class. See Competitions for full results.
NORTHERN AREA FIELD DAY IN CUMBRIA
A great day was had by all competitors who travelled to the Lake District to take part in the 2006 Field Day Competitors. Success was gained in several competitions but unfortunately didn't just quite succeed in defending the title. However all was not lost as Yorkshire triumph in the Stockjudging retaining the trophy for the second year. See photos & results under competitions.

FOURTH COUNTY SHOW HUGE SUCCESS
The fourth Show has proved to be another successful event with attendance up from last year. See Competitions for Rally results. See Headlines for Photos of Show.

MASCOT RACE RAISED MANY SMILES AND WHOPPING £10K FOR CHARITIES
The Yorkshire Young Farmers' Rural Recycling Mascot Steeplechase has been hailed a huge success with a field of 68 mascot "fighting" it out for the title of King of Mascots. This crown was won by Doncaster's Desperate Daisy (Doncaster YFC) which was closely followed by Hound Dog (Bingley Harriers) and Catterick Racer (Catterick YFC) in third. The best turnout went to Thomas the Camp Engine (Worth Valley YFC) and Billy Blood Drop was reserve (National Blood Service). A total of over £10,000 has been pledged for many different charities with over £2,000 for the main charity - Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Many thanks to all our supporters including North Yorkshire County Council Community Recycling Fund (main sponsor), Berryman Glass, Rockware Glass, Recycling Action Yrokshire, Corus Steel, Cartridge World (Fence Sponsors) and Skybet (Suggestive Betting sponsor). THOUSANDS VISIT LEYBURN FOOD & DRINK FESTIVAL
Yorkshire Young Farmers had a huge present at the recent Leyburn Food and Drink Festival with the Young Farmers hosting the Farming Marquee. Over 15,000 visits passed through during the Bank Holiday Weekend. SEE PHOTOS UNDER HEADLINES

YORKSHIRE BRING THE TROPHY HOME FROM ISLE OF MAN
A great time was had by all who travelled across to the Isle of Man for the Northern Area Weekend. Congratulations to everyone who was competing - Yorkshire A were once again placed first. See full results under Competitions.
WHAT A PANTOMIME!
Well done to all six teams who took part in the Pantomime on Sunday 28 Feb. All teams gave 100% with an excellent days entertainments. See full results under Competitions.

YORKSHIRE PLACED 4TH
Yorkshire A team were placed fourth in the National Competitions - only 13 points behind the winners. Well done to all involved and keep it up! ALL National competitions will go towards the trophy this year.

YFYFC PROUDLY ANNOUNCE A NEW SPONSOR

YORKSHIRE WIN STAFFORDSHIRE YFC COMPS
Eight members took part in these competititons which were held at Birmingham Primestock Show. All four teams were placed in the top three with Yorkshire County coming out on top and winning the overall trophy. See Competitions for full results at Primestock

FIRST FORUM A SUCCESS
The Yorkshire FYFC forum held Fri 4 November proved to be a huge success. Our guest panellists were asked various questions ranging from fuel costs to the price of milk. Many thanks to Ripon Landrover for hosting this event and providing the refreshments and to our panellists - David Curry MP, Judy Bell, Jonathan Jessop, Tim Bennett, Peter Garbutt and to Stephen Jarvis for acting as Chairman for the evening.

WORTH VALLEY WIN "ASHES"!
Well done to everyone who travelled down to Competitions Day on 8 October. Everyone did extremely well especially Worth Valley who were placed first in the Kwik Cricket. See full report under competitions

YORKSHIRE TRIUMPH AGAIN!
Once again members from Team Yorkshire have pulled together to become the outright winners at the Northern Area Field Day held in Durham. Members from all areas of the County competed in several competitions from Stockjudging to Cookery and Aerobics to Brick Laying not forgetting the ever popular Tug of War. All three of the Yorkshire teams helped achieve this results which everyone should be very proud off. See Competitions for full results

YORKSHIRE MEMBERS HAVE A SUCCESSFUL AGM IN TORQUAY
Worth Valley - 2nd in Ten Pin BowlingAfter a long journey down 167 members enjoyed three days of fun in not so sunny Torquay. Members could be seen strutting their stuff to the Abbamania band on Friday evening whilst others preferred to be Hypnotised on Saturday afternoon or be entertained by 5 excellent performances in the National Entertainments competition (especially Cornwall's Dancing diggers!). Doned with rabbits ears and playing cards the Saturday evening was dancing with Queen along with a performance from the Radio One DJ's. Sunday was a very busy day with the actual Meeting attended by 70 members who managed to wave their voting cards at the correct time. Charles Platts collects South West Quiz AwardsOther members were busy in the Pub Quiz and Ten Pin Bowling with success in both - Worth Valley were second in the Ten Pin Bowling and South West District third in the quiz. Sunday afternoon saw an apperance by the Worzels with the weekend coming to an end with the Club Shirts Dance (and trading of shirts! - anyone get a Welsh one!). Monday morning everyone returned to sunny Yorkshire after a great weekend. Click here for a link to photos.

PENISTONE REACH NATIONAL FINAL
Penistone Young Farmers Club reached the National Final of the Entertainments competition after been placed second in the North of England Final. Along with Lincolnshire Federation Penistone represented the Northern counties with their performance of Around the World in 20 minutes and 32 seconds. On first their performance was received with a huge applaud. Unfortunately Cornwall took the crown with Wales as the runners-up. A huge achievement to be one of the top 5 in all of the Country. Special mention George Orrell and Robert Wainwright to who were awarded most promising performers at the North of England round.

YORKSHIRE WIN NORTHERN AREA WEEKEND
Not only did Yorkshire host the Northern Area Weekend in Scarborough they also came out the overall winners with the most points in all ten competitions. These included a win in Junior Public Speaking, Senior After Dinner Speaking, Kwik Cricket and Badminton and second places in the Rugby, Inter Brainstrust and Entertainments, .
