YFYFC WIN GRANT TO PROMOTE HEALTHY HEARTS
Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs have been awarded £5,080 from national charity, Heart Research UK ’s Healthy Heart Scheme. The money will fund an innovative project entitled ‘Hearts of the Countryside’ which will promote heart health issues to the rural youth of Yorkshire click for full report.

YORKSHIRE MEMBERS AT THE TOP
Peter Garbutt from Great Smeaton and Julia Sparkes from Worth Valley have been elected as Chairman of Steering Committees of the National Federation. Julia will chair the Competitions Committee and Peter is chairman of the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee. NATIONAL COMPETITIONS DAY SUCCESS
Several members from across the County travelled down to Stafford to take part in the National finals for several of the 2006/07 competitions which included Public Speaking, Floral Art, Basketball and Pallet Recycling. Congratulations to Amy Crabtree from Farnley Estate who was placed first in the Intermediate Floral Art. The following were also placed third overall: Worth Valley Basketball team, Anna Stockil from Winksley in the Junior Member of the Year, Hayley Webster and Emma Foster from Winksley in the Junior Nature Challenge and the Senior Debating team - (John Butler, Sarah Hinchliffe - Escrick, Andy Stonehouse, Mike Barker - Thirsk and Joanne Peacock - Northallerton). SUCCESS AT NORTHERN AREA STOCKMAN
Twenty-four members took part at the Northern Area Stockman held at Skipton. Well done to everyone who took part with Yorkshire coming out the overall winners. See Competitions for full report.
YORKSHIRE REGAIN THE TROPHY
Success once again for the County with the Earl of Derby Northern Area Field Day trophy returning once more to Yorkshire. The county was not only successful by winning the overall trophy but it was the "C" team who brought the stockjudging trophy back for the fourth year running beating the "A" team by 8 points. COUNTY SHOW ANOTHER GREAT HIT
The fifth County Show proved to be another success for the Federation held at the Nidderdale Showground in Pateley Bridge. Record numbers of people came through the gates. See report and photos under headlines and also rally results under competitions

MASCOT RACE HUGE SUCCESS
Once again the Mascot Race has proved to be a hugh success with an estimated £16,000 raised for various Charities. The overall winner was Hound Dog from the Bingley Harriers, see Gallery for photos and attached for more information. Race Report Final Positions Top Fundraisers

PETER GRATTON ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN
At the Executive meeting on 19 April Peter Gratton from Nidderdale was elected as the new County Chairman for YFYFC. Andrew Wilson, Amotherby and Peter Garbutt, Great Smeaton are Vice-Chairman.

NORTHERN AREA WEEKEND GREAT SUCCESS
Well done to everyone who took part in the Weekend in Durham. Yorkshire teams did extremely well qualifying to National in several competitions. Unfortunately the overall trophy did not come home with us! Cumbria were six points ahead. Results are now printed under competitions.

YFYFC FORUM - ROOT TO MARKET
This was a successful event. Thanks to Ripon Landrover for hosting the event and to our panellists - Tom Rawson, Anne MacIntosh, Phil Mosley, Thomas Binns and Christopher Bourne-Arton.

YORKSHIRE RUNNERS-UP IN NATIONAL COMPETITIONS
Yorkshire A are second place in the National competitions and have been awarded the Tug Wilson Trophy. Yorkshire C were 13th and Yorkshire B 15th. Congratulations to everyone who took part in any of the National Competitions during the 2005/06 Competition Year whether taking part for Team A, B or C. Reaching a National final is a great achievement and a trophy for the County is the icing on the cake. Points A = 2136, B = 1387, C = 1433.
